I waaaay prefer the ergonomics and aesthetics of the 2000. I found the 1000 semi uncomfortable to hold and didn't like the hard edges. The slim looks much better in my opinion and feels great in my hands. The slim has better battery life and for me the biggest advantage is the micro usb power input. Obviously the raw tech specs on the Vita are going to be better than the PSP. That's to be expected across console generations.
